对越自卫反击战中国坦克部队在越南

　７９年对越自卫还击作战，分为两个阶段。第一阶段，２月１７日至２５日，要求集中优势兵力，围歼高平、老街之敌。第二阶段，２月２７日至３月１６日，要求速战速决，歼灭谅山、沙巴之敌。

　　２月１７日，广西方向５个坦克团，７个步兵师向高平进军。云南方面，１个坦克团强度红河，向老街进军。

　　广西方向，从布局、水口关进入越南，从东南方向高平突击。我军１部，进攻埝井、平孟，钳击高平，全歼越军３４６师。我军２部，反击同登、复和、溯江之敌。

　　我４３军坦克团，于１７日６：５５分出境。１营作为前卫营，穿插东溪，３小时插入３２千米。提前１５分钟夺占东溪。

　　我４２军坦克团加自行火箭炮营，沿布局、东溪向高平进军。１７日７时４５分从布局出境，沿４号公路挺进高平。奋战弄梅隧道，勇夺１９号桥。血战５昼夜，挺进７０千米，协同步兵突入高平。

　　我４１军坦克团（欠３营）加广州军区独立坦克团２营（加强）穿插高平西南要冲扣屯。

　　广州军区独立坦克团１营加４３军坦克团３营加某步兵师向高平东南重镇复合实施进攻。

　　４１军３营，支援步兵某师夺占高平西北屏障溯江。

　　５５军坦克团，以营为单位，支援步兵直取同登，攻击班庄，突破美目山，坂然。

　　１７日１８时３０分，５５军坦克团７连从友谊关出境，攻击探某。１９日１７时再次攻击，陷入包围。连长李德贵打光了所有的炮弹，然后坐车被越军几枚炮弹从不同方向击中，当场牺牲。战后评为战斗英雄。

　　云南方向，我军决心１部集中兵力夹击老街，围歼越军３４５师于柑糖地区。２部突破沙巴防线，夺取封土县城，歼敌３１６Ａ师于红河西岸。

　　昆明军区独立坦克团以营为单位，支援步兵进攻老街、孟康、金平三个方向。两栖装甲车辆首次强渡江河战斗，２４日，围歼敌３４５师于柑糖，打通１０号公路。３月４日围歼敌３１６Ａ师。

　　２７日，５５军坦克团１营（欠３连）支援步兵攻击谅山西北扣马山，奋战１天，拿下扣马山。１日，２营接替１营，向谅山逼近，至４日，全歼敌第３师，攻占谅山。

　　我军坦克部队，参战７０余次，击毁击伤敌坦克装甲车１７辆。火炮１０８门，汽车５６辆，摧毁火力点１０１０个，炮阵地９个。共有２个营，３个连，２辆坦克，１２名人员获英模称号。

　　我军首次大规模使用坦克作战，创造性的将坦克以营、连为单位，配属步兵协同进攻，创造了奇迹。但同时也暴露出布坦协同不利、战场维护脱节、工程车辆配套不足等情况。几种坦克防护性能脆弱，许多情况下，坦克仅仅用来搭载步兵。双方海、空军部队没有进行大的对抗，我军成功的扫清了纵深之敌，但是歼灭的大多数为越军地方武装，越军主力基本未受重创。我军获得了大量山地丛林作战经验。
